Why does it say "Invalid File" when I try to import VAT figures from a spreadsheet?

Easy MTD VAT can only import VAT figures from an Excel spreadsheet with an xlsx, xls or xlsm extension. This means other Excel spreadsheet formats such as xlsb (the format our partner Richard Pape provides his spreadsheets in) cannot have their VAT figures imported until they are saved as one of the supported formats. To do this, perform the following actions:

1. Open the unsupported spreadsheet within Excel.
2. Select the Save As option from the File menu to open a Save As window (you may need to click a Browse button prior to this opening).
3. In the Save as type list box, select one of the following options:
• Excel Workbook (*.xlsx)
• Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)
• Excel Macro-enabled Workbook (*.xlsm)
4. Click the Save button.
5. Ignore any warnings about losing functionality.
