Why am I seeing "Error sending data" when I use Easy MTD VAT?

On 09 May 2024, HMRC stopped supporting certain security ciphers that are used by Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. This means, if you use Easy MTD VAT under one of these operating systems, the software will no longer display your VAT data or enable you to submit VAT returns. Instead, the "Error sending data - The context has expired and can no longer be used" error appears.

To resolve the problem, please download then install the following Easy MTD VAT update...

Be aware that Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are no longer supported by Microsoft or by Fly Software and it is therefore advised you instead update your operating system to either Windows 10 or Windows 11.

Users of Windows 10 and Windows 11 are unaffected by HMRC's security cipher change and the current version of Easy MTD VAT will continue working without issue.
