Why is 503 Service Unavailable/500 Internal Server Error being shown when I start Easy MTD VAT?

503 Service Unavailable/500 Internal Server Error is displayed when the HMRC server/service is unavailable/unreachable or experiencing an issue.

To rule out a local connectivity problem, please check your Internet connection, reboot your computer then try Easy MTD VAT again. If the error persists, please wait 24 hours to allow HMRC to resolve the associated problem with their server/service.
