When I "lookup" a VAT registration number in Easy MTD VAT, the VAT registration number is not found.

On the 17 February 2025, HMRC changed the way the VAT registration number lookup process works. This means when you click the Lookup button in the Add Business window or the Modify Business window of Easy MTD VAT, a "VAT Registration Number Not Found" window appears even if the VAT registration number specified is correct. In the next release of Easy MTD VAT, this "lookup" issue will be resolved. In the meantime, please add or modify a business in the following way:

  1. Open the Add Business window or the Modify Business window.
  2. Specify the VAT registration number of the business in the VAT Registration Number field (A).
  3. Specify the name of the business in the Name field (B).
  4. Click the Save button (C).
